Recommendations for MAGfest 2017

Hello,

I would like to recommend a couple of cool things for next year's MAGfest.

In terms of music, my recommendation
More retro people- Like Megadrive or Perturbator
The Glitch Mob (I can only pray)
Daft Punk Relive Alive 2007 (never gonna happen)
More Japanese artists

In terms of panels, museums, famous people
Man at Arms museum of the cool weapons they created including a possible event where the Man At Arms people hold a vote a weapon that can be used by a cosplayer to do cool things with (like bashing a melon or bottles of drinks for fun and get some cool pics taken while doing so)

Hideo Kojima- After bringing in Keiji Inafune this year, you know why we should have him next year.......I don't know. Just someone. This is just a recommendation. You all are pros at this. Thank you for Mr. Inafune this year

Author of a famous manga maybe- Too much to ask, Magfest is not a con.

Filthy Frank or rather more youtube personalities.

But these are what I got for right now off the top of my head. I am not sure, is there a page where I can put down my recommendations because I have no idea where else.

For music, my main reason for going, it seems like each year has been less and less about video game bands and branching out to more variety of bands. Variety is good but Magfest was founded as a place to celebrate video game music.

I'm glad that we saw the return of bands like Metroid Metal, the OneUps and Bit Brigade, as well as newcomer FamilyJules7x rocking out the video game tunes. And I'm grateful for Mag Underground making up for the lack in video game bands and hope that comes back again next year. But there were a lot of bands that really had nothing to do with video games. I'd hate to see Magfest slowly evolve into another generic nerd convention.

Keep the VGM dream alive!

If there was any way we could get Porter Robinson live at MAGfest, that would be beyond incredible... His live show for his Worlds album is clearly based on video games and what we'd expect at MAGfest. You can look it up on youtube, but I can't describe how mind blowing it is in real life. I'd happily even pay extra for that.

I do also have an easier, cheaper suggestion however. Since this is a music and games festival, I would like to see more music based games... How about an Audiosurf 2 tournament, a necrodancer section, rhythm heaven, bittrip, laserlife, etc. I think that would really add to the depth of MAGfest and make it live even more up to its name.

Either way, I'll see you all in January.

I don't have a ton of recommendations for MAGfest 2017 but in terms of guests I would like I do have one.

Maximilian and the YoVideogames Crew, from twitch and youtube. Maximilian is known for his popular youtube series "Assist Me," a series where he teaches people how to play fighting games. His fan community has been growing over the past couple of years as his youtube channel recently reached 500k followers. Last year he won an Evo 2015 Cannon Award for his contributions to the fighting game community. On twitch he generally streams fighting games by himself during the week, and during the weekend he streams random games with his friends which get uploaded to his second youtube channel called YoVideogames. Below are links.

With MAGLabs now behind us, we're all starting to work on planning MAGFest 15. The dates will be January 5th-8th (Thursday-Sunday) at the Gaylord as usual, and you can register at https://super2017.uber.magfest.org/uber ... ation/form

What would you like to see at M15? Things you'd like to see, things you miss seeing, things you'd like to never see again, etc. Leave your feedback here and I'll make sure it gets to the right people!

I posted this in the magfest 2017 recommendations thread, but since now we have the offical thread I guess I'll copy and paste a little.

A good variety of panel topics like usual (no matter who's presenting).

Plenty of board games to try out.

More pinball machines (I think there were three when I went in 2014 and I'm not sure they were working when I checked).

At least a few rock or metal acts, music in the halls and... Triforce Quartet every day <3
